U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan hasn't ruled out running for president in 2016.

"I've decided not to decide," Ryan told the State Journal on Wednesday when asked about a possible presidential run.

For now, Ryan said he and his family are enjoying settling back down in his hometown, Janesville, after traveling around the country last year while he was the Republican vice presidential hopeful and running mate to Mitt Romney.

And Ryan, who has returned to his post as House Budget Committee chairman, said he is currently focused on addressing fiscal issues facing the country and trying to "avoid a debt crisis."

Ryan has faced criticism recently from fellow conservatives over his vote in support of the fiscal cliff deal, but he said that vote helped the vast majority of Americans from getting tax increases, adding that he believes the deal will force President Barack Obama to cut spending.

"I have learned that whatever you do you are going to get criticized, so you should do what you think is right," Ryan said.

Ryan has also faced criticism over his opposition to a bill allowing the National Flood Insurance Program to take on new debt in an effort to help people and businesses devastated by superstorm Sandy. He defended his vote, saying that he believed a good portion of the money would end up outside New York and New Jersey.

Since this article is on Paul Ryan, lets focus on HIM alone.

After getting a spanking in the election, what on earth would make Paul Ryan that he is more liked today, or will be in 2016? What achievements does he have to show the American people that would even get them to consider him seriously?

I am still waiting for the Ryan lovers on here to give me an answer. The truth is Paul Ryan has virtually nothing to show for except the ridiculous budget that the American people soundly rejected, and will reject it even more stronger in 4 years.

But all of us, including Paul Ryan, have the right to dream!

Daktef, please explain how gerrymandered people elected Walker by a greater margin than Obama. If you want to be an idiot and say Obama has a mandate its plain to every thinking person that Walker has a greater mandate!

Hey Nav, didn't Lincoln have the label of looser attached to him before he was president? It seems every time you open you mouth you show us the total lack of reasoning the left has. Say some more stuff now please.

According to Gallup it looks like Obama will be the least popular president I. The last 50 years. Thank for point that out Nav. http://www.gallup.com/poll/116479/barack-obama-presidential-job-approval.aspx

Actually according to those stats he is the 2nd least popular president in January after election. Let's not get all excited over meaningless stats.

So Nav. As Walker won by a larger margin than Obama I am sure you agree that he has even more of a mandate than Obama right? And unlike Washington, Wisconsin is completely controlled by one party. I am glad you are putting aside your hypocrisy and double standards and now realize the people of Wisconsin have spoken and want the republicans to have their way in the state.

You may not want to respond, unless you like being seen as a partisan hypocrite.

You mean the gerrymandered people of Wi have spoken.

You'll have to be able to win outside of your gerrymandered Waukesha County 'base' to try to pretend you have national appeal, Mr Ryan.

Your hometown of Janesville, and Rock County have figured out who you are, and that's not a good thing.

So Ryan not holding a job is a huge problem but its not an issue for Obama? Why is the left all about double standards? Why does nobody in the left care that they are hypocrites? It it because the really are not interested in fairness? They really just want their way at almost any cost.

Dazshand

Many people on "the Left" care about double standards, being hypocrites, and fairness. Why do YOU use generalities to denegrate an entire political party instead of keeping you comments limited to the person/people that you are having discussions with? Should we use you as a representative for the entire Republican party?

Paul Ryan went from weinermobile straight into politics. The guy has never held a job. Never. He has accomplished absolutely nothing in his 'career'. Nothing. Zero.

We welcome paul ryan running next election. If hard-core, religious-fanatic boobs are all you got, then bring'em on! He'll get thumped worse than what's his name, romney. repubs are the kings of irrelevance.

Keep him in the house. He's starting to come around on social security and on middle class tax cuts. Didn't you all hear about the bill he helped introduce that would allow people scheduled to retire at age 66, to be able to retire at 65 1/4. Also under the same bill, children born as late as September, could be claimed as an exemption on the parents prior year's taxes. Paul's your man.

"To have any real shot at the Presidency, you have to have shown the nation that you have done something in your life"

We have a potus who was GIVEN the Peace Prize (in anticipation of what he would do). Who would ever think a Peace Prize recipient would be using drones to kill innocent people, and no one says a word. We have a nation lead for the past 4 years by a potus who has more people on food stamps ever in our history. We have yet to hear the truth about Benghazi, or Fast and Furious. I agree...quite a record.

If those are the accomplishments that make one fit for president, heaven help us all.

I really don't understand why anyone thinks that Paul Ryan would make a good President. Besides talking tough (only to back down later) does he have any real achievements? Has he ever been a Governor? NO. Has he ever been a senator (like Biden and Clinton)? NO. Has he ever served as a Vice President (like Biden has)? NO. Has he ever served as a Secretary of State (like Hillary has)? NO. Does he have any foreign experience? NO.

To have any real shot at the Presidency, you have to have shown the nation that you have done something in your life. Besides clean already clean plates, I am not sure Paul Ryan has done much of anything. If someone thinks he has a lot of achievements that would make him a strong candidate for Presidency, I sure hope they will elucidate us.

By the standards you list Nav, Obama is not qualified for the Presidency either. Something at last we agree on :)

LiLa

Did you miss the "has he ever been a senator" question in Nav's comments?

Nav
Nav

196ski, Paul Ryan even fails on THAT account! He has never been a community organizer, didn't graduate from an Ivy League Law School, never taught Constitutional Law as a Professor, was never a Senator from a big state, never was the "first" to be anything, all things President Obama has under his belt!

By the way 196ski, yesterday's Gallup poll put President Obama's popularity at 56%. He won the election handily and has a mandate. Comparing Ryan to President Obama is very laughable?

jimatmadison

Nav, I'm fairly certain that Mr Ryan was the "first" Wienermobile driver in Congress, so he does have that.

Nav

I am afraid Paul Ryan will need a LOT more than his fake charming look with a fake smile. There has to be some substance behind those running for President. Paul Ryan has nothing.

Nav
Nav

Oh yes. He is back in his hometown Janesville which did not even vote for him during the election.

Paul Ryan has a label "loser" attached to him. Just about any Democrat running for President would easily defeat him. Joe Biden has already made a fool out of him in a debate. Hillary Clinton would trounce him without a doubt.

It's very stupid to decide not to vote for someone when you don't know who else is running. But everyone knows liberals are not very bright.
