Veterinary Emergency Service is building a 4,700-square-foot clinic offering emergency and specialty veterinary care at 3710 E. Racine Street in Janesville.

Scheduled to open in November, the clinic will be owner David Wirth's third location, following clinics he opened in Middleton and Madison in 2003 and 2007, respectively. Wirth said the clinic would serve pets in Janesville and the Rock County area, where the nearest emergency clinic is currently more than 30 miles away.

Can I just say...This vet hospital opened up November 18th, I live in Lake Geneva. We had our 6 year old dog go non responsive and was in shock. While en route, we got on the phone with our home vet in whitewater, who directed us to this place. If this vet hospital had not opened up, our poor dog cody was barley arousable, had blood sugar that was so low and a extremely high potassium, I do not think he would have made it to Madison! The doc took one look at cody, and said Addisons disease. Later found out my dog was in an addisons crisis, would have died The people here are AMAZING! Worked with our vet to stablize our dog at night when our vet closed. They are fantastic and in such a great location!
