That green in your garden could turn into green in your pocket, if you learn how to turn carrots into cash.
The 2017 Edible Startup Summit will give guidance on getting into the local food business, through a two-day training program in November.
The summit is being co-hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and UW-Extension, and will be at the American Family Center, 6000 American Parkway on the city's Far East Side.
Successful food business entrepreneurs and development experts will give their takes on how to get into, grow or diversify in local food endeavors.
Speakers include Peter Robertson of RP's Pasta, chocolatier Gail Ambrosius, Gage Mitchell of Modern Species and Matt Stoner Fehsenfeld of Quince and Apple.
"Whether you are just getting started with your business or are ready to take it to the next level, the Edible Startup Summit can be a great source of information," said Kietra Olson, DATCP local foods program manager.
The summit is Nov. 17-18. Registration is $50 for one day, $75 for both days, and ends Nov. 9.
