Waunakee-based Uniek, a provider of picture frames and other home decor to North American retailers, acquired Madison-based Amanti Art for an undisclosed sum, the companies announced this week.

Amanti Art, 2814 Perry St., sells framed art, prints and mirrors direct to consumers and to other businesses, including online shops, museums, institutions and interior design firms. It also offers a custom framing software application for designers and a custom art- framing e-commerce app for retailer websites.

Uniek's Suzanne Stelzer, senior director of art sales and marketing, said Amanti Art will continue to operate and supply its existing customer base from its current location and keep its name and all its current employees who choose to stay, including former owner Scott Longua. Its products will become available to Uniek customers over the next few months.

Founded in 2008, Amanti has under 20 employees, Stelzer said. Uniek, founded in 1988, has about 60 employees who work as office staff at 805 Uniek Drive in Waunakee, as well as a few hundred in the company's on-site manufacturing plant, Stelzer said, along with sales offices around the country.
