Initiated in 2015, the Dane Arts Buy Local (DABL) Night Market connects local artists and businesses to facilitate sales and commissions of original artwork from Dane County artists. The 2016 Night Market generated $18,500 in night-of sales, with an additional $50,000 in continued art sales and commissions after the event. This year’s event will feature 30 local artists’ work, a panel on the business of art in music with five leaders in the music industry, live music, dance and art performances, food, drink and more.
DABL 2017 will be held at the U.S. Bank Building on the Capitol Square. This is a private event and in order to attend participants must register: https://dabl2017.splashthat.com/.
The panel discussion “The Art of Business and the Business of Art” will focus on the growing local music industry. Panelists for the event will include Larry Frank from Frank Productions, Cathy Dethmers formerly from Hi-Noon Saloon, Grammy winning drummer Joey Banks, recording artist Zhalarina Saunders from the JVN Project, and Beth Kille from the MAMAs and the Beth Kille band.
The night will also include dance performances by F3T, music by New Nature Collective, and a caricature painting by Theo Howard.
The Dane Arts Buy Local Night Market is sponsored in part by U.S. Bank, Ho-Chunk Gaming Madison, Vanderwalle and Associates, Urban Land Interests, and the Overture Center for the Arts.
