Join WHA for a tantalizing autumn feast featuring the flavor of hickory on October 8th at the Old Hickory Golf Club in Beaver Dam.
The WI Hickory Association is hosting their 3rd Annual Hickory Feast on October 8th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This year's location will be at the Old Hickory Golf Club in Beaver Dam. Participants will enjoy a 4 course lunch featuring the natural unique flavor of hickory while surrounded by the beautiful grounds of the golf course.
Our menu will feature a crisp mixed green salad topped with hickory nuts, bleu cheese and cranberries; a heartwarming bowl of ogwissimanabo (a Native American yellow squash soup with hickory); an entrée of mouthwatering pork porterhouse steak covered with a rich hickory bourbon glaze; side dishes of buttered parsley potatoes and green beans; ending with a grand finale dessert of hickory nut turtle cheesecake served with hickory mesquite smoked coffee. Certainly a Feast by any measure!
Hickory nut entrepreneur, Linda Schaalma of Juneau, WI will be our guest speaker to share her story. Hickory nuts have always been a part of her life. Her parents sold them at the Dane County Farmer’s Market for over 25 years. In 2004 she and her dad, Ray Pamperin (Ray’s Hickory Nuts) started a successful online business selling nuts throughout the U.S. and even other countries.
WHA, a not-for-profit organization also uses this opportunity as a membership drive and fundraising event for the organization so this year we have expanded and will also offer a raffle that participants may purchase tickets to win a wide variety of prizes such as hickory products, 2018 EAA tickets, golf package, and gift certificates.
Old Hickory Golf Club will also be offering reduced golf fees to any Feast attendees who choose to golf before or after the meal. Tee times need to be made prior to the event by calling the club at 920-887-7179 to receive the special.
Registration is required by Saturday, Sept. 30th. Tickets are $37.50 for non-WHA members and $30 for members. You may register by sending your payment to: WI Hickory Association, P.O. Box 261, Brandon, WI 53919. Visit wihickory.org for more information or to email questions.
