The Spirit of St. Louis, the $7,500 monoplane in which Charles A. Lindbergh will attempt the New York to Paris flight for the Orteig $25,000 prize, is shown in May, 1927. The plane was completed and tested at San Diego, Calif. It has a wing span of 46 feet, weighs 4,750 pounds and has a cruising speed of 105 miles an hour.
