Madison celebrity bartender Chad Vogel is looking to open a cocktail lounge at 821 E. Johnson St. called the Robin Room.

The bar, located a few doors down from The Spot and Sophia's Bakery and Cafe, would have seating for 35-40 patrons. It's approximately two blocks from the 220-unit Constellation development, which opened in 2013, and the 200-unit Galaxie, still under construction on the adjacent block.

In its application to the city Alcohol License Review Committee, the owners describe the establishment as a “small cozy cocktail bar.” If approvals can be secured, an opening is planned in October.

The application said the drinks would be made with locally produced syrups and fruit juices. Small plate food items would also be served featuring “traditional Wisconsin tavern fare with a handmade twist.”

Cocktail classes will also be offered, according to the application.

Vogel — whose resume includes tending bar at Maduro, co-owner of Barmadillo, a traveling bar in a 1956 Airstream trailer that made an appearance at last summer's Yum Yum Fest, and cocktail consulting company Three Count Beverage Company — could not be immediately reached for comment.
