The eight chef-created bagel sandwiches sold for one day only at Gotham Bagels as part of Madison Chef Week.

Eight bagel sandwiches. Three reporters. One competition.

In what's become a tradition as part of Madison Chef Week, some of the city's top chefs created specialty bagel sandwiches for the 4th Annual Gotham Bagel Sandwich Contest.

The eight sandwiches are served for one day only, meaning that Gotham was packed with customers eager to try Tory Miller's Bobby Flay Slayer or Evan Dannells take on a pizza bagel.

The winner (determined by who sold the most bagels) got $200 to donate to the charity of their choice.

But the chance to try these super-limited sandwiches made us all winners, really. Cap Times political reporter Jessie Opoien and features editor Rob Thomas joined food writer Lindsay Christians in sampling all eight sandwiches. Here's how Lindsay covered it on Instagram:

Since 2008, Lindsay Christians has been writing about fine arts and food for The Capital Times. She loves eating at the bar, going to the theater, fine wine and good stories. She lives on the east side with her husband, two cats and too many cookbooks.
