Getting kids involved in gardening is a growing movement in Madison.
To keep the momentum growing, gardening enthusiasts will gather at the Goodman Community Center on Feb. 20 for the Madison Youth Grow Local Conference.
The conference, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the center, 149 Waubesa St., will bring gardeners, teachers, cooks and others from a variety of organizations to take in workshops on youth gardening techniques such as seed starting, cooking using garden vegetables, developing a garden curriculum and how to start a successful youth garden.
The keynote speaker at the conference will be executive chef Tory Miller from L'Etoile Restaurant.
Others expected to be at the conference include representatives from the Madison Metropolitan School District, Dane County-UW Extension, The Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Sustain Dane, REAP Food Group, Slow Food and UW-Madison.
Cost of the conference is $15, lunch included.
