Dan Brown, right, from Ho-Chunk Gaming Madison speaks with moderator Jason Joyce during the Cap Times 2017 Idea Fest.

Ben Brewer

When it comes to the history of Madison, it's easy to overlook the presence of the Ho-Chunk people. Dan Brown, the executive manager of Ho-Chunk Gaming Madison, is trying to change that.

In his conversation with Cap Times news editor Jason Joyce at the recent Cap Times Idea Fest, Brown talks about the state of the Ho-Chunk in 2017, and what the nation is trying to do to preserve its heritage, from its cultural practices to its spoken language.

You can listen to their conversation in this episode of Live from Cap Times Idea Fest, a podcast that brings you recordings of the many panels and interviews featured at the inaugural event.
