A 16-year-old boy was killed Wednesday when the horse drawn Amish cart he was driving was struck by a pickup truck in Green Lake County, authorities reported.

James Beechy of Markesan was pronounced dead at the scene after the cart was hit from behind by the pickup truck driven by Michael Dumke, 41, Kingston.

The crash was reported at about 5:50 p.m. on County X at Winding Lane Road, about two miles south of Kingston.

According to a Green Lake County Sheriff's Office news release, Beechy was ejected from the cart when the truck hit it from behind. Dumke was uninjured.

Both vehicles were westbound on X.

The crash remains under investigation.
