A 52-year-old bicyclist who was injured when he veered into the path of a Madison Metro bus Friday night had a blood alcohol content of 0.26, Madison police reported.

Police said the crash was reported at 9:21 p.m. Friday in the 3100 block of North Sherman Avenue near Warner Park.

"One witness at first thought the man was bleeding from the chest after seeing liquid shooting out from that area of the body, but later realized it was beer, not blood, squirting from cans inside his jacket," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain in a news release.

The unidentified bicyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for observation.

No citations were noted in the release.
