Shots rang out on the southwest side early Sunday morning, with one bullet apparently lodging between two panes of glass in a picture window, Madison police reported.
Police said the shooting happened about 4 a.m. in the 6200 block of Hammersley Road.
Police responding to the scene watched a large number of people fleeing the area on foot and in cars, after they had been at a house party.
"Others indicated there had been two house parties and there was a large number of people in the street when the shots were fired," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
No one appeared to be injured, but one man who lives nearby said he was awakened by the shots and that one sounded like it hit a window on his house.
"Officers found a flattened small caliber bullet lodged between two panes of glass," DeSpain said.
No arrests were made and witnesses weren't able to provide information on any suspects.
