Defensive tackle Chase Rome of the University of Nebraska football team officially had one solo tackle in Saturday night's 48-17 loss to Wisconsin, but a tackle he made later in the night cost him.

Rome, 19, was cited by Dane County deputies for criminal damage to property after he allegedly ripped off the front section of a towel dispenser in a bathroom at the Dane County Regional Airport.

Dane County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Elise Schaffer listed the damage to the dispenser at $600 and said Rome was fined $326.50.

Airport spokesman Brent McHenry said there were plenty of media inquiries about what he termed a minor incident that occurred when the Cornhuskers went to the airport to return to Lincoln after their nationally televised loss at Camp Randall Stadium. The game marked Nebraska's Big Ten Conference debut.

"A paper towel dispenser was damaged. It has since been repaired. It's nothing significant at all," McHenry said.

Rome is a redshirt freshman from Missouri. He stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 295 pounds, according to the Nebraska Cornhuskers website, www.huskers.com.

Since the county was filled with fans from Nebraska as well as Wisconsin for the much-ballyhooed game, Schaffer said one damaged towel dispenser was a minor problem.

"All things considered, if this is the worst thing that happened this weekend, we did pretty darned well," Schaffer said.

State Journal reporter Rob Schultz contributed to this report.
