Klout.com ranks the University of Wisconsin-Madison No. 2 on its list of the "Most Influential Colleges."

These rankings are designed to measure an institution's online influence.

The top spot went to Texas A&M. The rest of the top five includes Harvard at No. 3, Oklahoma University at No. 4 and Stanford University is fifth. Marquette University in Milwaukee was 10th.

In similar rankings released in January, UW-Madison was fourth.

According to its website, Klout rankings measure online "influence based on your ability to drive action. Every time you create content or engage you influence others. The Klout Score uses data from social networks in order to measure" that influence.

UW-Madison put out a news release making note of the Klout rankings. The university reports that "social media use at UW-Madison has grown exponentially in the past two years, with more than 750,000 followers to roughly 500 campus accounts on all platforms."
