When the University of Wisconsin football team takes on Purdue on Halloween, spectators won't be allowed to bring certain large bags into Camp Randall Stadium, but they will be allowed to wear togas, spacesuits and other costumes.

Campus officials said Monday that costumes will be allowed into Camp Randall on Saturday, so long as they don't raise a security or safety risk.

However, the ban on certain bags remains in effect.

The bag ban took effect three weeks ago, after the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin citing the "terrorist interest" in attacking stadiums and luxury hotels. The carry-in ban will remain in effect for the final two home games against Purdue and Michigan.

The following items are permitted: purses (preferably small), camera cases, binocular cases, fanny packs, blankets, jackets, items related to a medical condition, chairbacks (not more than 16 inches wide) and diaper bags or items related to the care of an infant.

The following items are not permitted: food, beverages, cans, bottles, coolers, thermoses, backpacks (including draw string bags), large bags (gym, duffel, tote), luggage, strollers, laser pointers, umbrellas, banners, flags, signs, noisemakers, weapons, balloons or beach balls.

Because lines often develop while bags are checked, UW has set up express gates for those who do not bring carry-in items.

The 11 a.m. game this Saturday precedes the Freakfest celebration that night. Costume-clad students will swarm State Street, and headlining act Third Eye Blind will perform on one of three performance stages.
