Dear Editor: After the Texas massacre Rep. Paul Ryan ran to Fox News for his usual uncontested interview. Ryan spoke out against those who are not people of faith. Ryan said we should all do the right thing and pray in moments like this, then he said: "Prayer works."

Maybe it works for Ryan. I see on Politico that he got $171,977 from gun lobbyists in 2016. He is the man who can stop any anti-gun bills. I am not anti-gun, but I am anti-assault rifle. The math is easy: $600 for an AR-15, $100 for a 100-round canister clip and $70 to turn it into a near full automatic. Just like the now-weekly street shootings we have in Madison, mass shootings will increase in frequency. At some point I hope people will wake up to the fact that they have been conned by the NRA and their tool Paul Ryan.
