Economist Jonathan Gruber, one of the primary architects of a health care plan that influenced the creation of “Obamacare,” will give a lecture Thursday on current national issues of health care reform.

Gruber was one of the primary creators of a health care plan now known as the Affordable Care Act, which was designed and implemented in Massachusetts. The plan supplied many components that were eventually adapted in the new U.S. health care plan, “Obamacare.”

Gruber is a professor at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology and a prominent speaker on the national implementation of “Obamacare.”

“Obamacare” is one of the fundamental controversies surrounding the current shutdown of the inessential operations of the federal government.

Gruber will be on campus Thursday in the Marquee Theater of Union South at 3:45 p.m.
