Fuzzy's Taco Shop, which opened in October 2010 at 3519 University Ave., is moving to the UW-Madison campus area, said franchise owner Kevin Bostad.
It is likely moving into a new development across from Camp Randall called Varsity Quarters, a six-story, 129-bed apartment building where the Stadium Bar used to be.
"We're just working on a lot of different moving pieces right now," Bostad said. "We're slowly but surely working on floor plans and all that stuff, but it's getting closer."
Bostad said he is not sure of Fuzzy's last day on University Avenue yet, but hopes to be there at least another few weeks.
There are about 70 Fuzzy's Taco Shops in the U.S., but Bostad only owns the Madison one, which was the first in the Midwest. Bostad, who is from Pardeeville, is based in Arlington, Texas.
Meanwhile, Apichart Santipiromkul who owns the Fitchburg restaurant Curry in the Box, 3050 Cahill Main, with his wife, Anne, is planning to open a second location in the old Fuzzy's spot.
"It's not 100 percent right now, but it's almost there. It is just waiting for my signature," Santipiromkul said, adding that if all goes well it Curry No. 2 could open the first week in September.
The menu at the University Avenue location will be similar but scaled down, he said.
