Never disappointing, Flora Springs has unveiled another Halloween-inspired bottling for our ghoulish pleasure. This year, Coit Tower Artist-in-Residence, Jeremy Fish, has crafted an owl-pumpkin image that needs a double-take.
Why do we even celebrate Halloween? The holiday, of sorts, is traced back to a Celtic festival combining bonfires and costumes to ward off ghosts. When Pope Gregory III created All Saints Day on Nov. 1, some of the traditions of the early Celtic festival were incorporated. The eve before became known as All Hallows’ Eve, which later was turned into Halloween.
Halloween gives us a reason to show our playful sides. And why not? But always with a good bottle of wine.

If you’d like to submit a Napa Valley wine for this column, please send it to the Napa Valley Wine Academy, 2501 Oak St., Napa, CA 94559. There’s no guarantee your wine will be chosen to be featured, but all wines will be evaluated and considered.
