Browse beautiful hand-stitched embroidered art 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Madison Area Chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America, Inc.'s, "Art of the Needle." Held at Lutheran Church of the Living Christ, 110 N. Gammon Road, the show features items created with a range of techniques including canvas, pulled thread, hardanger, cross stitch, Brazilian and more. Enter a raffle to win embroidery-related items, buy supplies from the Stash Sale or finished items in the Boutique, learn more about techniques at the Stitching Tables, and enjoy homemade desserts in the Hospitality Area. Halloween Legends and Lore

Venture into the dark of the woods to hear Halloween Legends and Lore at Old World Wisconsin, W372 S9727 Wisconsin 67, Eagle, 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Oct. 27-28, rain or shine. Listen to Wisconsin folklore and tales from immigrant legends performed by the light of a campfire; escape a haunted maze with just the light of the moon to guide you; indulge in tasty treats (for purchase); then stay for the 8:30 p.m. bonfire and join the Undertaker for The Night Parade -- "when the church bell tolls, summoning the spirits back to the other side." Admission is $12/adults, $9/children, ages 4 to 17, and children 3 and under are free.

International Archaeology Day

Uncover your inner Indiana Jones at the Wisconsin Historical Museum, 30 N. Carroll St., during their International Archaeology Day 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Dig into our state's past with family activities, tours of the archaeology exhibits, and a 1 p.m. showing of the film "Wisconsin's First People." International Archaeology Day events are free with paid admission to the museum: $5/adults, $3/children, ages 5 to 17, children 4 and under are free. Wisconsin Historical Society members are free.

Punk rock fest

Get over to Knuckle Down Saloon, 2513 Seiferth Road, for S'not Fest 2K17! The hard core punk rock festival begins at 1 p.m. Saturday and continues until 1 a.m. Sunday. Bands from Madison -- Help Desk, Funrod, Delinquents, Not Dead Yet, and Deal Breakers -- are joined by others from Chicago and the Midwest. Admission is $10; the event is for ages 21 and over; underage attendees permitted with guardian.
