MLK Jr. holiday

Join King Coalition of Madison and Dane County for events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A free community dinner will be served 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at UW-Madison Gordon Commons, 770 W. Dayton St. An ecumenical celebration, featuring the MLK Community Choir, will take place 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Fountain of Life Church, 633 W. Badger Road. Gather for Freedom Songs 5 p.m. Monday in the Rotunda at the Overture Center, 201 State St. Stay for the annual program, 6 p.m. Monday, in the Capitol Theater, featuring keynote speaker Frank A. Humphrey, president of the NAACP Wisconsin state chapter, the MLK Community Choir, and awards. All events are free and open to everyone.

Bike swap and FB4K

Brazen Dropouts Cycling Team’s Bike Swap held in the New Holland Pavilion No. 1, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday has more than 100 vendors offering complete bikes, cycling attire, shoes, tools, frames, forks, cranks, pedals and more — maybe even some art! Food concessions will be available as well. Cash-only admission is $15/early-bird at 8:30 a.m., $5/between 9 and 11 a.m., and free after 11 a.m. Children 13 and younger admitted free all day. Parking fee is separate.

Donate gently used bikes to FB4K (Free Bikes For Kids) Madison 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to help children most in need. The nonprofit organization collects, cleans and refurbishes the bicycles before giving them out.
