It was 50 years ago, when Jack Nicklaus shot a final round 65, and established a new U.S. Open record of 275, to win the U.S. Open Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey. It was also the second of his four U.S. Open titles. Nicklaus finished four strokes ahead of runner-up Arnold Palmer, who experienced his fourth runner-up finish at the U.S. Open in six years.
