GRANT COUNTY — One girl was killed and four others were injured when a car full of Lancaster teens crashed Wednesday afternoon in Grant County.

Authorities were called to the single-vehicle crash on Liberty Ridge Road in the town of Liberty at 4:42 p.m., according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

MaKayla Hore, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Grant County Coroner. Authorities said she was wearing a seat belt.

The driver, 16-year-old Morgan Hoehne, remained at UW Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Rock County authorities identified the remaining injured passengers as Jena Hore, 17, Nathaniel Tranel, 15, and Kindra Yoose, 14, but did not specify their conditions.

All of the survivors were air-lifted to UW Hospital after being taken to Grant Regional Health Center.

The teens are all students at Lancaster High School. The school is offering counseling services to those affected, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities said speed contributed to the crash, but alcohol was not involved.
