A fire Thursday night in an office in the engineering research building on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus caused about $20,000 in damage, authorities reported.
No one was injured.
Madison Fire Department firefighters responded to a fire alarm at 8:14 p.m. Thursday at the building at 1500 Engineering Drive, just north of Camp Randall Stadium in the College of Engineering complex.
Upon investigation, Engine 4 firefighters found the fire in an office, which was confined to the room because the door to the office had been closed, preventing damage to other parts of the building.
Firefighters doused the fire with water and ventilated the building with fans.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
