An Appleton man was charged with first-degree reckless homicide for allegedly providing the heroin that killed a Berlin woman in July of 2016.

Samuel Moreno-Baza was charged in Green Lake County Circuit Court on Monday, Berlin police said.

He was identified by police as the person who delivered heroin to the woman, who was found dead of an overdose at a Swetting Street home in Berlin 16 months ago.

"Through long hours of investigation and identifying the drug dealer, it is my hope the individual responsible for supplying the heroin to her is held accountable for his actions," said Police Chief Dennis Plantz in a release on Thursday.

Online court records show numerous open cases against Moreno-Baza, mostly for possession or delivery of illegal drugs.
