A man carrying a long gun and wearing a scarf over his face robbed an East Side gas station Tuesday night, with nobody hurt in the robbery.

The robbery happened at about 7 p.m. at the Mobil station at 605 Cottage Grove Road, Madison police said.

The suspect had what appeared to be a long gun wrapped in a piece of cloth or clothing.

"The shaken clerk said the crook demanded and received cash from the till, before taking off on foot," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

A police dog was brought to the scene but the suspect wasn't found.

The suspect is a white male in his 30s, 5 fee, 9 inches tall, thin to medium build, wearing a black jacket, with a black scarf over his face.
