An armed robber who has committed five robberies at Aldi stores in Madison and the Milwaukee area is being sought by the FBI and local police.

The man hides in the store and robs it once it closes, the FBI said on Tuesday.

“The robber appears to have inside knowledge of Aldi and its procedures,” the FBI said.

The five stores listed by the FBI include the East Side Aldi on Lien Road in Madison, robbed on Oct. 7, and stores in Brookfield, Oconomowoc, Greenfield and South Milwaukee, robbed between June and September.

The robber goes into an Aldi 20 to 30 minutes before closing time, hides somewhere in the store and comes out five to 10 minutes after the store closes, shows a handgun and robs the store, the FBI said.

The robber displays a silver-colored or chrome-colored semi-automatic handgun during the holdups.

The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. Anyone with information can call local police or the FBI’s Milwaukee office, 414-276-4684.
