An Edgerton man was arrested for early Thursday after allegedly leading authorities on a high-speed chase.

The chase began when an Edgerton police officer tried to pull over a vehicle for not having its headlights on at 3:20 a.m. The driver then fled south on Highway 51 at up to 70 mph, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

The car was stopped when sheriff's deputies deflated three of the vehicle's tires using stop sticks near the intersection of highways 51 and 14, in north Janesville, according to the release.

Christopher J. Barrett, 22, was arrested and tentatively charged with first-offense drunken driving and attempting to flee an officer. He was booked into Rock County Jail, according to the Sheriff's Office.
