A Hillsboro man has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted for his 10th drunken driving offense.

Jeffrey Varnes, 52, was sentenced in Vernon County Circuit Court on Monday, according to a news release from the Vernon County Sheriff's Office.

Varnes was also put on three years of extended supervision and had his driver's license revoked for three years.

The 10th offense occurred on March 9 when the Sheriff's Office answered a call for a crash on County V near Beaver Creek Drive in the town of Greenwood.

"During the course of the crash investigation, the driver, Jeffrey Varnes, was located and arrested," the release said.
