Five people, including four students, were injured Friday morning when a school bus was struck by another vehicle in dense fog in Vernon County.

None of the injuries was serious.

The crash happened at about 9:20 a.m. on Wisconsin 82 about a third of a mile north of County UU in the town of Wheatland, the Vernon County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Bus driver Dwight Veglahn, 51, rural Genoa, driving for Desoto Area Schools, was going north on 82 and was turning into a church parking lot in heavy fog when the bus was struck by a vehicle driven by Timothy Fergot, 47, rural Viroqua.

Twelve children, ages 7 to 18, were on the school bus. Four children had minor injuries, with three taken to the hospital.

Fergot sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
