A Janesville woman was found dead in a home by the Janesville Police Department SWAT team after a deputy serving papers heard a gunshot in the house Tuesday morning.

An autopsy is scheduled Wednesday on the 52-year-old woman, according to a news release from Janesville police.

At 9:03 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy from the Rock County Sheriff's Department approached the residence at 426 N. Walnut Street to serve civil process paperwork, when the deputy heard a gunshot inside the residence.

The SWAT team was called and found the woman's body inside.

No one else was in the house at the time, said Lt. Tim Hiers in the release.
