Woman injured in town of Beloit shooting

Police were looking for a dark blue sedan after a woman was injured when shots were fired into a parked car in the town of Beloit early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened just before 4 a.m. in the 1900 block of South Wisconsin Avenue, according to a town of Beloit police news release.

As of 9 a.m., police still were looking for the suspect vehicle, Chief Steven Kopp told Madison.com.

A preliminary investigation showed a vehicle parked in a driveway with four women from Janesville inside was the apparent target of the shooting.

"One female suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her arm," Kopp said in the news release.

The victim was treated and released at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

Shell casings were recovered at the scene.
