Some 3.6 percent of students at Dane County schools in 2015-16 have personal conviction waivers from required vaccines, and another 2.1 percent have medical or religious waivers. Rates vary considerably by school. Waivers can mean children haven’t received one, some or all vaccines. Higher rates cause more concern about outbreaks, but there is no specific rate that is worrisome, health officials say.
