Scott Walker hires South Carolina political staff

Gov. Scott Walker has hired political staff in South Carolina, where he recently toured and is returning on Saturday.

Gov. Scott Walker's political group has hired staff in South Carolina ahead of his second visit to the key early primary state on Saturday.

The State (S.C.) reported Tuesday that Our American Revival has hired Dan Tripp to lead state operations. The former state lawmaker has worked on presidential campaigns for Herman Cain in 2012, John McCain in 2000 and Phil Gramm in 1996.

The group also hired Mike Lukach to work in South Carolina. Lukach has managed campaigns for Congressional candidates in Illinois, West Virginia and Minnesota.

The New York Times recently reported that OAR has recruited 50 volunteer fundraising operatives in 30 states. It also employs full-time staff in Wisconsin, Iowa and New Hampshire.

An OAR spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Walker is speaking Saturday at the South Carolina Freedom Summit in Greenville, alongside several presidential candidates and potential candidates.
