Dane County is the 15th healthiest of Wisconsin’s 72 counties, according to an annual ranking. That’s down from 11th last year and ninth in 2011.
Ozaukee County, north of Milwaukee, is the healthiest this year, followed by Kewaunee and St. Croix counties. The least healthy counties: Menominee, Milwaukee and Marquette.
The rankings, by UW-Madison and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, look at several factors — including rates of childhood poverty, smoking, obesity, teen birth and high school graduation, and access to physicians, dentists and healthy foods.
