MILWAUKEE—Maryellen was born on Nov. 15, 1933, in Montfort, Wis., to Clifford Bowers and Myra Powers. She found peace on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, after a long illness.
Maryellen married Ronald E. Barbian (son of Elroy Barbian and Marvel Hintz) on Feb. 3 , 1953.
She went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an art major. While attending school she won several beauty contests, most notably winning the Wisconsin Badger Beauty Contest in 1952. Above all, she was a loving, caring, and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, daughter, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and friend.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald E.; father, Clifford; mother, Myra; and brother, Clifford Bowers. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Burda, and brother, Robert Bowers. She is further survived by sons, Ronald A. (Wendy) and Gregory (Debbie); and grandsons, Bryan, Brett, Ronald Jr., and Russell. She will be deeply missed and will be lovingly remembered by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 4800 S. 84th St., Milwaukee, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. The Rev. David Berg and Greg Berg will be officiating. Entombment will be at Arlington Park Cemetery.
