CROSS PLAINS—Nathalie E. Bergum, age 89, of Cross Plains, Wis., died on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Heartland Country Village in Black Earth, Wis. She was born on Oct. 25, 1928, in Dane County, Wis., to Edwin and Nettie (Nelson) Schumann. She was united in marriage to Harold “Bud” Bergum on Sept. 22, 1983, in Ettrick, Wis.; Bud preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2014.
Nathalie was an administrative assistant to the Wisconsin Heights Superintendent. She was a member of New Heights Lutheran Church, the Women of ELCA, and the Cross Plains American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Harold “Allen” Gruen of California and Glen A. Gruen of Texas; two grandchildren, Mara and Ross Gruen; her step-children, Peggy (Paul) Schroud of Menominee, Mich., Bruce (Tracy) Bergum of Lake Mills, Barbara (Roger) Hillebrand of Belleville and Judith (Doug) Deaton of South Dakota; 21 step-grandchildren; and many step-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Shirley Starczynski, Eugene (Jean) Schumann, Jim (Ginny) Schumann and Gloria (Mike) Mullvain; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kim E. Gruen; her brother, LaVerne, and sister-in-law,Geraldine “Geri” Schumann; her brother-in-law, Paul Starczynski; and her first husband, Harold Gruen.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018, at NEW HEIGHTS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1715 Center St., Black Earth, Wis., with the Rev. Rob Nelson officiating. A gathering with family and friends will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 1710 Center St., Black Earth, Wis.
