Ruby Connors, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb 14, 2013, at Weber Haus in Wonewoc, with family at her side.
She was born in the Town of Woodland, the daughter of Edward Hamburg and Martha (Peters) on Aug. 19, 1928. Ruby was united in marriage to Joseph A. Connors on May 20, 1946, at S. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wonewoc, and enjoyed 55 years of marriage with Joe, raising three sons and a daughter. After her daughter, JoAnn (Steve)Towne’s tragic auto accident she took in and raised her grandchildren; Jeff, Kevin and Melissa. She enjoyed life as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. She was a lifetime member of St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and a longtime member of the American Legion Post 206 Auxiliary. She always had a smile for everyone, with a just twinkle of mischief in her eyes.
She is survived by her sons, Victor (Becky) of Lodi, Wayne (Pat) of Reedsburg, and Timothy (Vickie) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; eleven grandchildren; with fourteen great-grandchildren, her brother, Edward of Baraboo and many nephews, nieces and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter, JoAnn and son-in-law, Steve Towne; six brothers; Albert, Arthur, August, Walter, Alvin, and Benno and two sisters; Esther and Edna.
Her funeral services will be held at ST PAUL’S EVANGELICAL. LUTHERAN CHURCH, Wonewoc on February 18, 2013 at 11 am, with a burial ceremony in the Lutheran Cemetery, Wonewoc, with Reverend Peter Snyder presiding. A lunch will be served at St. Paul’s following the burial, served by the Ladies Aid of St Paul’s. Visitations will be held at THOMPSON’S FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and one hour preceding the funeral service at St Paul’s Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Elementary School Memorial Fund. Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
