MERRIMAC / VERONA—Richard Ardell Hermanson, age 80, born Jan. 18, 1937, the son of the late Alton M. and Eva M. (Nelson) Hermanson, passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 6, 2017, with the aid of Agrace HospiceCare. He attended and graduated from Argyle High School and was united in marriage to Rachel Alm at the Apple Grove Lutheran Church in 1956. He was a 50+ year and lifetime member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 139 and worked for 40 years at Wingra Stone Company in Madison, retiring in 1999.
Richard is survived by his two sons, Greg (Kristina) and Kevin (Stephanie); granddaughter, Kailey Hermanson and step granddaughters, Tessa (Scott) Dreger, Amber (Matt) Sherwood, Ashley Hanna, and Amanda (Tim) Blaziewske; step great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Isabella, Destiny, Savanna, Noah, Rocco, Nora, and Audrey; sisters, Reta (John) Kratochvil and Ruth (Roger) Gierhart; and brothers, Rolyn (Mary) and Dorian (Sue) Hermanson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Hermanson; his in-laws, Olin and Alice Alm; and brothers-in-law, Earl and Robert Alm.
A celebration of Richards Life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at the VERONA AMERICAN LEGION, 207 Legion St., Verona, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Online condolences may be made at hooversonfuneralhomes.com.
