SUN PRAIRIE - Loren G. Klein, age 87, passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Prairie Gardens in Sun Prairie.
He was born on March 3, 1924, and was the son of Edwin and Frances (Goetzinger) Klein. He married Velma Puttkammer on May 14, 1949, at East Bristol. Loren served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Sun Prairie Legion Post No. 333 and VFW Post 9362. He worked for 45 years at the Wisconsin Porcelain Company.
He is survived by his six children, Diane (Ron Retallick) Halverson of Arena, Linda (Steve) Schreihart of Madison, Gary (Doug O'Donnell) Klein of Tucson, Ariz., Randy (Cindy) Klein of Brodhead, Tom (Lauren) Klein of Brookfield, and Tim (Charo) Klein of Palma de Mallorca, Spain; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Klein of Madison; and sisters, Irene (John) Morschauser of Deerfield, Vera (James) Atteln of Sun Prairie, Helen Waller of Watertown, and Alice (Gene) Buechner of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Velma; brother, Gerald; and sisters, Dorothy Koch and Violet Brandenstein.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Entombment will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens, where the Sun Prairie Legion and VFW will hold graveside military rites.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Catholic Church or Olbrich Gardens.
