MAZOMANIE—James F. “Jim” Klippel, age 72, passed away at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison on Dec. 4, 2017, with his wife, Janice, at his side. He was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 21, 1945, to the late Wallace and Kathleen (Lennon) Klippel. As a young man, Jim and his older brother, Tom, took the streetcar to the Hales Corner’s Speedway every Sunday to watch stock car racing. Jim was a graduate of Wauwatosa High School, class of 1964. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Following his service he returned to Wauwatosa to work with his father at Klippel’s Citgo. Jim purchased the Texaco Station at 4810 E. Washington Ave. in Madison in 1975 and worked there until his retirement in 2000. He married Janice Moore on May 17, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nev. Jim had a lifelong love of cars and helping friends work on their cars, he enjoyed camping, bowling, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; three sisters-in-law, Sue Klippel of Winter Garden, Fla., Jill (Jim) Thompson of Trempeauleau, and Terri (Mary Winsch) of Gurnee, Ill.; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom; and a great-nephew, Nolan.
