FORT ATKINSON / GAYS MILLS—James David Knoble, age 69, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1948 in Prairie du Chien, Wis., the son of the late Clayton and Rita (Finley) Knoble. He grew up in Gays Mills and graduated from North Crawford High School. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at UW-La Crosse.

He was active in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972, stationed at Fort Bragg. Following his service in the Army, the family moved to Ann Arbor, Mich., where he worked as a chemist for several years until moving to Otsego, Mich. The family lived there for 10 years until moving back to Wisconsin. He worked in manufacturing for many years until joining the U.S. Postal Service. He worked for the Postal Service until his retirement in 2011. Jim loved fishing and hunting, Wisconsin sports teams and spending time with his many friends.

Survivors include his daughters, Terri (Dan) Lannan and Sarah (Kurt) Horwath, all of Fort Atkinson; and six grandchildren, Mitchell, Samantha, Mackenzie, Noah, Reagan and Caleb. Jim is further survived by his siblings, Kathie (John) Iverson, Thomas (Pat) Knoble, William (Denise) Knoble, Ruth (Pat) Walsh, Mary (Mike) Mather and John (Tina) Knoble; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the GAYS MILLS COMMUNITY BUILDING, 212 Main St. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, Wis., is assisting the family.
