MOUNT HOREB—Robert O. Lenherr, age 88, of Janesville, passed away peacefully at Agrace HospiceCare in Janesville, on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2017. Bob was born on June 21, 1929, in Greenwood, Wis., to Alfred and Elsa (Lamb) Lenherr.
He graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1947. Bob proudly served in the United States Navy and was an Engineman Second Class on the USS Manta submarine during the Korean War. Bob married Marie O. Brink on Aug. 25, 1953, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mount Horeb. They were married for 57 years until Marie’s passing in 2011. They were both active in the St. Ignatius congregation, where Bob was caretaker for several decades. He worked as a mechanic for the Dane County Highway Department for 36 years. After retirement, he worked for Flad Development as caretaker of Maple Terrace senior living apartments for more than 20 years.
Bob was always fixing things for people and helping his children, grandchildren and neighbors. He was a loving caregiver to Marie during her fight with colon cancer. He is survived by his daughter, Joan (Richard) Neeno; three wonderful grandsons, Andrew (Corinne) Weber, Sam (Brittany) Weber, and Katsumi Neeno; and great-grandchildren, Sloan, Cole and Charlotte Weber. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, and daughter Jane (Rick) Weber.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at ST. IGNATIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 109 S. 6th St., Mount Horeb, with Father Chahm Gahng officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 500 N. 8th St., Mount Horeb. Burial with full military honors will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
