MOUNT HOREB—Richard M. Lornson, age 81, of Mount Horeb, Wis., died on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wis.
Richard was born on Feb. 17, 1936, in Menasha, Wis., to Clarence E. and Ethyl (Miller) Lornson. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, and the National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster. After retiring from the military, Richard was a licensed registered nurse and shared his nursing passion with the community and any one in need.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, the Mount Horeb Knights Columbus Council No. 10559, and of the Bishop O’Connor Assembly No. 1200 Madison 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, and the Mount Horeb American Legion Post.
He is survived by six children, Cheryl L. Lornson of Janesville, Katherine L. Harper of Boyce, La., Annette Y. (Frank) Morgan of Hope Mills, N.C., Terresa M. Grigsby of Charlotte, N.C., Kenneth E. (Michele) Lornson of Belmont, N.C., and Sarah E. Wilkins of Smithfield, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence (Shirley) Lornson and Janna Lornson; sisters, Diana Malone and Edith Lornson; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard M. Lornson, III.; grandson, Robert A. Lornson; five brothers, Charles “Mickey,” Anthony, Peter and twins, Harold, and Gerald Lornson; and sister, Helen Judy.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at ST. IGNATIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL PARISH, 109 S. 6th St., Mount Horeb, Wis., with Father Chahm Ghang officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at the ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 500 N 8th St., Mount Horeb.
