PORTAGE—Marie R. Millette, 90, of Portage, Wis. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017. Born on Aug. 26, 1927, in Lewiston, Wis., Marie was the eldest of four children born to Reuben and Margaret Grossman. Marie worked as a nursing assistant for many years at Central Wisconsin Colony. She was very active in her community as a longtime member of Dekorra Lutheran Church in Poynette, a volunteer at Divine Savior Hospital, and a member of the VFW Auxiliaries in Poynette and Portage. Marie enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, completing word searches, taking day trips to the casino or to The Fireside Theater, watching game shows, attending church activities and Bible study. In the past two years, Marie achieved her dream of having her passport stamped while on her trips to Canada and Mexico and enjoyed traveling to Florida and Texas.
Marie is survived by her children, Vicky (Skip) Schroeder, Diane (Tom) Hamacher, Debra Harris, and Jerry (Joan) Hollendyke; grandchildren, Brenda (Travis) McKinley, Billy Schroeder, Shane (Connie) Frey, Michele (Rod) Kruckman, Jessie (Stacey) Sanders, Melissa, Brian, and Mark Hollendyke; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Hannah, Marisa, Alexa, Aaron, Lauren, Lincoln, Knox, Dai, and Zita; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law and friend, Mary Grossman. Marie was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Hollendyke, Tony Speth, and Willard Millette; a daughter, Dawn; her parents, Reuben and Margaret; her siblings, Betty, Rena, and Marvin “Stub;” and a great-grandson, Jasper.
Funeral services for Marie R. Millette will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at DEKORRA LUTHERAN CHURCH, N3099 Smith Road, Poynette, Wis. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place at Dekorra Lutheran Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial.
