MADISON—James Charles “Jim” Neis, age 69, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017. He was born Aug. 22, 1948, the son of Charles and Harriette Neis. After graduating from James Madison Memorial High School, he attended MATC. Jim was employed as a bartender for many years but his true passion was designing jewelry. One of the most memorable experiences in his life was the time he spent training “Tina,” a Siberian Tiger at the Madison Zoo, from infancy until she was fully grown. Jim loved to build Lego sets and had many wonderful pieces around the house. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to watch the races. Jim was a warm and loving man with a wonderful smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Lynn; nephew, Donald (Jesse) Dudley; his sister-in-law, Jane (Mike) Walker; and other relatives and many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Isabella Dudley-Dietrich.

Lynn would like to thank all their wonderful friends that were by their side, family members and their children, Jim’s second “Mom”- Marie Wescott, the amazing ladies at SSM Health Rehab, Dr. Sarah Fulham and her wonderful nurses, and Agrace HospiceCare.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at MADISON ELKS LODGE, 711 Jenifer St., Madison, from noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
