MADISON—Jane (Thea Lee) Pfefferkorn, age 81, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Jane was born on Jan. 22, 1936, in Darlington, Wis., to Paul and Frances (Teasdale) Lee.
Jane attended Darlington public schools and graduated from UW-Madison. She married Homer Pfefferkorn on Feb. 9, 1963, in Darlington. Jane was primarily a homemaker and later worked at the Department of Revenue. Jane enjoyed many good times with her family. She actively supported her kids in their many athletic, artistic and musical endeavors. She was a long-time Badgers fan and enjoyed football, hockey and the women’s basketball team. Jane’s house was always filled with music—be it Kiri Te Kanawa, Frank Sinatra, the Three Tenors or her granddaughters at her piano. She enjoyed bowling with the BJ’s, collecting tea leaf china, and traveling to Hawaii, Arizona and North Carolina. Mom always stood at her doorway when people left her house and made sure they were safe at least until we turned the corner.
Jane leaves her four sons, Tom (Fran) Pfefferkorn of Monona, John (Julia Winfield) Pfefferkorn of Charlotte, N.C., David Pfefferkorn of Madison, and Matthew (Robin) Pfefferkorn of Mooresville, N.C.; and grandchildren include, Anna, Jack, Wendy, Grey, Ava, Nicole and Owen Pfefferkorn. She was preceded in death by Homer in 2009; her parents, Paul and Frances; and her brothers, Steve, Roger and Bob.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., and then a luncheon. A graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery will follow. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or the charity of one’s choice.
