JANESVILLE - Elizabeth “Libby” Sommerfeldt, age 95, of Janesville, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Alden Meadow Park Nursing Home, Clinton.

She was born in Rockford, Ill., on Nov. 30, 1916, the daughter of John M. and Florence (Ford) Stewart and was a 1935 graduate of Janesville High School. She married Duane Sommerfeldt on Oct. 12, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1978. She had previously worked at Woolworths, the Department of Revenue in Milwaukee, and later for the town of Janesville, as the clerk. Libby was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her four children, Raymond of Baraboo, Kenneth of Janesville, Robert of Madison, and Karen of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren, Joe Lawrence and Sheila Tollas; and two brothers, Bernard Stewart and Terrance Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Melva Sommerfeldt; and three sisters, Anne Marie Thrash, Mary Wagner, and Jeanette Warsaw.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, with Rev. Guy Vogel officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the CHAPEL of MILTON LAWNS. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Support Center of Rock County.
